Often times authors portray themselves in the characters they write, whether they put a little of their own personality into every character or they base a character off of themselves. J.K. Rowling is an excellent example of the latter, where she based one character off of herself. Hermione is how J.K. Rowling thought of herself when she was younger. Both of them were smart and did not have many friends. Both view school as one of the most important things they could do. Hermione and her were bullied during their adolescent years. In the books, J.K. Rowling creates the character of Pansy Parkins to portray her bullies. Lastly, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J.K. Rowling had Hermione have to be without parents, something J.K. Rowling had experience at her mothers death. Hermione Granger is J.K. Rowling's double and we can learn much about J.K.
