In 1998 Tara Lipinski became the youngest individual gold medalist in the short program figure skating in the Winter Olympic history. Lipinski’s winning performance consisted of seven triples, the historic triple loop/ triple loop combination and at the end a triple toe/ half loop/ triple Salchow sequence. After sixteen years Lipinski has not yet gone back to figure skating. After her Olympic years she devoted herself to school and family while making some television appearances, the most resent one being in the Sochi Winter games appearing as a commentator for NBC. Lipinski made her mark in sport history and with her grace, determination and persistence she has become a role model to generations of young girl wanting to achieve their goals. While following her dream to be a professional figure skater, she encounter health and publicity obstacles but it was clear that Lipinski was born to perform and wasn't going to let anything get in her way, even after she retired from the sport.
Tara Lipinski has inspired many young girls over the years. Lipinski showed courage when she went against adults (and older people than her) in the Olympics and came out victorious. She showed her persistence to succeed when she landed her triple loop combination, which had never been successfully executed, before her. Girls look up to her for inspiration, in interviews girls said that Lipinski: is a role model for her charisma and determination to succeed and to achieve her goals. Lipinski has not only made her presence in history but has also won a place in young girls minds, for generations girls will look up to her for her achievements at a young age.
Lipinski winning performance, got the U.S to first place and making her land in history with all her jumps fully executed. It is one of the best short program performances, done by a young figure skater in the Olympics. After her performance Lipinski couldn't believe how good she did, when she found out her scores had placed the U.S in first place she was hysterical, she couldn't believe she had made Olympic History and was a gold medalist. Her performance the audience realized how grace and persistence to succeed, with her stellar performance she deserved nothing more than to be an Olympic champion
